Rose Briar Place Wedding | Oklahoma Wedding Photographer

Sara and Lonnie’s gorgeous wedding ushered in the first hints of fall. They chose a blush and deep berry for their color pallet with the bridesmaids wearing alternating colors. Sara’s dress was “to die for” with beautiful lace, intricate beadwork and topped with a cathedral length veil. There was so much love surrounding them with all their friends and family and the reception was a great party. One my favorite details of the night was their first dance song, “Tennessee Whiskey”…which he sang to her while they danced. So stinkin’ sweet! I wish them all of the joy and success in the future. And now please enjoy some of my favorites images from their day.

Venue: Rose Briar Place

Florals: New Leaf Florist

What To Look For In A Engagement Session Location | Oklahoma Wedding Photographer

What to Look for in a Location for an Engagement Session

I think Engagement Sessions are a big deal. So big that they are complimentary in every wedding collection I offer. Engagement sessions are an ideal way for you to see how well you and your photographer will work together. It’s also great for you and your soon-to-be spouse to practice perfecting your poses for your wedding day portraits. And the images are perfect for save the date cards or even holiday cards. I bet you will even have fun!

But where should you schedule your engagement session? I have tons of suggested locations, but consider these tips to help you choose a location that has significance and meaning to you as a couple.

1. Choose a Place That Fits You as a Couple

Do you have a favorite coffee shop? Go there. Spend most of your evenings dueling it out over scrabble? Set up a session at home. The location of your engagement shoot should be one you two are comfortable in. You don’t have to go all out and glamorous if you both are more the laid back and casual. Nor do you have to search for an open field to shoot in if you’d rather shoot in front of a street mural. The location can be any place that will allow you two to act naturally and can have a story behind it.

2. Take the Sun Into Consideration.

If you are choosing a location because of the sunset or sunrise you’ll have to schedule your session accordingly. You’ll also want to take into consideration the season as well where the sunset starts later or earlier. If you are shooting at multiple locations for your engagement session don’t forget to account for travel time.  If you’re going for a sunset or sunrise backdrop you may want to keep your locations closer together to give you more time.

3. Consider the Visuals and Background

Whether you are going for a rustic or urban look, brainstorm some locations that have interesting backgrounds. Find some interesting architecture or brick walls for an urban feel or fields and trails for a more urban and country feel. Try not to choose a location that has too much foot traffic since this can result in your images getting photo bombed by a passerby.

Top 7 Must Have Photos With Your Bridesmaids | Oklahoma Wedding Photographer

Top 7 Photos With Your Bridesmaids That You Absolutely Need

There are plenty of photos you have probably considered taking on your wedding day. From getting ready, the ceremony to pictures with your family and of course with the groom but what about the ladies that are helping you and have helped throughout the entire wedding planning process? While you know you’ll have some time to take group shots of the entire bridal party you’ll want to make sure you have these photos with your bridesmaids as you get ready on your big day.

1. Showcase The Back of the Dress

The back of a wedding dress is hidden with beautiful details you’ll want to capture. You can pose with all of the bridesmaids to show off their dresses as well or have some great close ups of the bridesmaids helping button, zipper or lace up the back of your dress.

2. Having Fun

As you are getting ready everyone’s nerves are a little on edge because everyone wants to look their best. There will be moments when you just need to let loose to relax a little and having a little dance party, jumping on the bed or just being silly are moments that can make for great photo opportunities.

3. Celebrating Shot

You’re getting married! There is bound to be a bottle or two of champagne being opened in the bride’s honor. Take a minute to pause as you toast away your single life with your bridesmaids for a picture perfect shot.

4. Matching Robes or Shirts

Most brides will have getting ready attire for their bridesmaids and you’ll want to capture everyone in their cute and thoughtful pre-wedding wear.wedding, wedding photography, wedding photographer, oklahoma wedding photography, oklahoma wedding photographer, oklahoma city wedding photography, oklahoma city wedding photographer, okc wedding photography, tulsa wedding photography, dallas wedding photography, north texas wedding photography, bride, groom, photos, engagement, bridal, bridesmaid, wedding dress, christie conyer photography, dresser mansion

5. Bouquets and Bridesmaids Dresses

Bouquets won’t last a lifetime but the pictures you have of them will. The bridesmaids and bride bouquet shot is one that you will want to have. There are many ways you can showcase the bouquets as well as the bridesmaid’s dresses. From lining everyone up and holding their bouquets out to the camera or hiding their faces to forming a circle around the bride; this is another shot that you can get creative with.

6. The Shoe Shot

You can’t forget about the shoes and what about those pedicures? You’ll want to get a group shot that showcases everyone’s shoes.

7. First Look With The Bridesmaids

You have heard about the first look for the bride and groom but what about when the bridal party sees the bride for the first time? The bride’s first reveal to her bridal party can result in some emotional and memorable photo opportunities.
